Play Date with E and H Under the Bridge

What a great morning....I feel like I just shot a stylish Baby GAP layout for a catalog.  Are you kidding me??  These two little prissy pants were too cute!  With a breezy morning under the bridge...I had a great time playing with E and H.

Greatest. Dispositions. Ever.

Thanks so much for asking me to play....I had a blast this morning.

Family Vacation Celebrating a 40th Wedding Anniversary

I'll start this off by saying "thank you" to Kelly G. for hooking me up with this cute family from NYC, Chicago and Raleigh.  They were all down in Kiawah celebrating a 40th Wedding Anniversary.  I think they were about 5 or 6 when they got married.

N, M and L are the cutest little grandchildren ever.....and L is expecting a little brother or sister!  Woohoo.  I knew when I started this shoot that this picture of M was going to be a definite on the blog....1-year old who just started walking + hill + wet grass......

We quickly moved on from the golf course and headed out to the freedom of the beach....

This may not be first choice for a Christmas card photo.....but for me, there are so many things in it I LOVE:  the finger in Mom's ear...the bottom of that delicious foot... Dad - in there somewhere...not to mention the extreme effort to give Mom a good ole fashioned smoocharooski.

Look closely....the bribe of choice is in there...

In today's economy....you've got to give a guy some credit for having his sites set on a trade so early in life....

And these guys are EVERYWHERE....

Thanks for having me out today....I had fun with you guys.  Enjoy your sneak peek....I'll let you know when the rest go up!

Teenagers!

An old friend gave me a call and said she was ready for some shots of her children before school started. She and I used to play cards once a month and these guys were itty-bitty.  It makes me sick, sad and startled when I see how much they've grown.

And let me just say.....yes, they are as nice as they are cute.  Seriously, these are two of the most well-mannered and pleasant teenagers around.  I realize that when I shoot this age group that it's not the first thing on their list of activities they want to do that day.....so we try to make it short and sweet.  Well, I just had to go and screw that up and drag them from one place to another.  First location had a little event going on....and by little I mean about 300 kids.....scratch that.  Next spot had major bright sunlight.....scratch that.  We made do and they couldn't have been any nicer.

"A" claimed there was a tree she liked to climb....."S" said he could help get up.....and we all laughed because Mama had a heart attack and was ready to call the fire department for help in the meantime.

Thanks for having me out......here's your sneak peek.......I'll let you know when the rest go up.

Woohoo GIVEAWAY

OKAY PEOPLE.....this is my first "Woohoo Giveaway" and I will continue to do these periodically when I am so inspired.  (Don't mind the tomatoes.....they have nothing to do with the giveaway - just don't like a post without some color!)  Well...let's talk about inspiration....  My office is an in-home work space.  I've got a great room on the third floor of our house.  When we built this house, we designed this room specifically for my husband and his work.  Well, I've booted him out and have taken over and I'm in this office for several hours a day.

I was struggling with 'enjoying' the space.  I have to walk through my children's playroom (BIG mistake if you are on your way to WORK!)  The room depressed me each day because I was immediately introduced to 259 unorganized books....three desks that had this, that and the other on top of them.  Overflowing drawers of 'should we keep' or 'should we get rid of', chair in the corner that needs to be recovered.  You know the feeling, people!  A daunting task that I never could find the time to tackle....or maybe I just didn't want to tackle.

I have these similar feelings about each relationship with different rooms in my house.  I haven't quite done what I'd like to do because I haven't quite had the wallet to do so.  So, here's where inspiration walked in my door and changed my little world dramatically.  Admittedly, it may not sound like much to many of you.....but if you're in the same predicament of "wanting to do a lot....not sure if I can do any...." mode I was in.....then you will appreciate my enthusiasm.

I called Alix with NEAT, INC. and told her my situation.  I was wallowing in a bit of disorganization because I had been paralyzed by the notion that I couldn't afford to change or update.  Alix came in with a fresh eye....and a mean sense for what works and what doesn't work.  She rearranged, organized, sold, removed and decluttered.  By the end of her brief stay.....we had taken care of things I had been looking at (a/k/a not dealing with!) for years.  I disliked my guest bedroom.....now it's inviting.  The playroom sent shivers down my spine.....my children take pride in the organization now.  My office is more functioning with a desk from another room that I had thought was too heavy to even consider moving into my office - we moved it in 10 minutes.

People.....I give you Alix.  She was so inspiring and offered my household such relief and filled several rooms with a great big breath of fresh air.......I am GIVING AWAY one hour of Alix's time.  That may not sound like much....oh you'll be surprised!

I will be giving away this great gift ONE WEEK FROM TODAY.....to be eligible, you must comment on my blog (Give a name.....even if it's a code name....so I can add your name to the hat.  I will NOT be able to include "anonymous" posters.)

I'm excited for the lucky recipient!

A Day on the Set

Wednesday afternoon I had a really cool spot up on a rooftop here in Charleston, South Carolina.  I was documenting with still photography...the filming of a music video.  It was the filming of Darius Rucker's new single "Come Back Song".  True to Darius' family-man style...he had his wife and 2 out of his 3 children in tow.

....and this is the view going on behind him.  A typical Wednesday afternoon in the
beautiful Charleston harbor.
