Count Your Blessings....

So...January has never been one of my favorite months of the year.....the holidays are over....the excitement is gone....it's cold, dreary and sometimes depressing.  I've been moaning a little lately about the kids' homework, the house being a mess and trying to get tax JUNK ready (I l-o-a-t-h-e this)...

But we've got NOTHING going on compared to sweet "R" and baby "E" up in the MUSC Children's Hospital.  Include that fantastic place and all its people in your prayers today.  If life is pretty good for you....don't postpone JOY and don't forget to LIVE.  Be happy......make the first step to do something for someone you love today....the little gestures go a long way....

Say your prayers and be grateful....

4-Weeks Old and Very Serious....

Sweet Amanda contacted me about shooting her delivery....and things went rockin' and rollin' a little too quickly sooo.....I got to meet Mr. "B" a little later in life.  I enjoyed hanging out with the little guy on Sunday - we had some very serious conversations.  (You forget how serious they can be in that 'I'm still so new to this world' stage.)  Mama and Daddy seem to be settling into parenthood pretty well.  I mean, why wouldn't they seeing how they have slipped right into marriage for a whole...almost 2 years!

Congratulations on such a sweet little munchkin.

...Check it out...these cute feet are chillin' out on Mama's old blanket....

Peek-A-Boo! 21-Month check in with "L"

I love this guy.  Fortunately for me....I've seen him every three months since he was 3 months old.  So very interesting to see the changes between each session.  The "new" thing this time...?  The boy has something - to - say!  He immediately gave me a flirtatious smile and played a little "Peek-A-Boo" behind Mama's back...we played in the sand box and in his grandfather's car....he was EXHAUSTED after our play time and needed a little energy boost....too funny.

Bright Eyed and Bushy Tailed.....3 Weeks Old

Remember these?

We got a little delayed due to the weather....so my typical 2-week visit after shooting a delivery turned into a 3-week.  Baby "C" looks great and so does Mama!!  He was wide awake and alert as can be....just not so sure he was ready to strip down on this c~o~l~d day.  Hopefully, Mama will get a break in the chilly weather so she and "C" can venture out for some fresh air.  I remember how 'stuck' I felt in those first few days.....

Loved seeing you guys today.....look forward to 3-month shoot!

Don't fret...I'm almost done Bud....

Someone has found his thumb....

Happy New Year!

Here is the Christmas card that some of you got....and some of you will never get because time slipped right out from under me....  Let's point out a few details which convinced my daughter and me to choose this particular one....starting left to right - the poor, poor, scared dog.....the mischievous eye in "H", the bunny ears behind me, the dog poop on "B"'s shoe, her crazy expression, "R"'s neon gum (which doesn't show as much on here or the card), his neon laces, and the oh-so-unnatural pose from my husband.  As a photographer....I much prefer crazy to posed.  Clearly.

I learned a lot this year....First, when I should start Christmas shopping (September)....I actually did do this and the season went a lot smoother and was way more enjoyable.  Second, when I should do my Christmas cards - if I'm going to do them (September).  When to convince clients to schedule their shoots.....PRIOR TO DECEMBER.  It's not that I can't get the work done and am worried about a timeline....It's that I probably rescheduled 6-7 shoots due to weather!

I'm moving on from holiday clutter to cleaning out....preparing for taxes......getting organized.....and getting motivated.  A huge thank you to all my clients for 2010....I had a great year and enjoyed every. single. minute.  Even the multiple times I was shooting up at the Children's Hospital....which I must admit....I enjoy the most.  Humility at its very best.

My girth has expanded and I'm not sure that the weekly visits to Santi's is going to help that out anytime soon....but my neighborhood amenity calls my name PEOPLE!  No, I'm serious, I can hear it in the wind.  Around 5:30 in the afternoon it starts.....when I'm outside with the children and neighbors.....and really don't feel like getting in the kitchen.

Looking forward to my 2-week visit with baby "C" and a 4-week visit with "B".  Also going to be working on a birthday surprise here soon.

Hello to an old friend that I heard from today....that I haven't seen in 25 years.  *UGH* that I can actually say that.  Sort of like my 8-year old saying, "Gosh, I haven't heard this song in, like, 5 years."  oh really?  Speaking of....that total hambone included these small items on his Christmas list for Santa this year....a dog, a bunny, a hamster, a snake, a cow and a pig.  Awww, poor little guy didn't get any of them.  And, he made our "elf" a broom and left him a note asking him to clean the 'hole' house.....because we were all sick around here.  Not true....but gotta give him credit for getting a little creative.

Cheers to a new year....may we have many more smiles, lots more prayers, the same good health and continued hard work.  Be happy.
