Vacation.....Mercer Style

So last Tuesday night....I was scurrying around feverishly trying to pull all loose ends together because something rare was about to occur.  Our ENTIRE family was going on vacation for a WHOLE week.  A solid 7 days of together time....the five of us.  My husband and I are self-employed so walking away from our own businesses is never simple....or profitable.....which is why it is a rare occasion.

Oh.... but the payoff is so great. 

 Down time without phones, computers or schedules is so rewarding.  My brother always says the best part of the vacation is the first morning you wake up.  You've got the entire rest of the vacation ahead of you.....and ain't it the TRUTH!!  My husband's sister and her husband were kind enough to host us for an entire week at their house in Saratoga Springs, New York.  There were also some cousins, aunt, uncle, father, step-mother....  My husband got to meet his nephew and cute little "M" was the star of the week. Greatest.  Disposition.  Ever.

I feel like I need to apologize for the lack of pictures of everyone else......but how could my camera turn anywhere else?

Thanks for a great week of badminton, croquet, laughing, boating, the horse races, EATING, EATING, EATING and relaxing.

Well....which part of this picture is more interesting?....the fact that the car has propellers....or, well, you know....that Uncle Rod has his jean cuff tucked into his sock accidentally...or his shirt sleeve rolled up on purpose?  A little ciggy hangin' out and a stylin' pose.....

We had a great time seeing some Charleston friends up in Saratoga and spent the afternoon and evening with them......

Wedding at Kiawah!!

E and A's Mama got married last night.....and they couldn't have been any more excited.  The evening started out nice and neat.....

and cool Mama Christine threw the idea of 'nice clothes' out the window after the ceremony....and we headed for the beach....and it ended up like this!

E was the ring bearer....

  Christine looked...beautiful and happy.  The weather was teasing us all day with threats of rain and/or extreme heat.  It couldn't have been more perfect.  The sea breeze with cloud cover in late evening was ideal.

Family Vacation!

I have a sweet friend who works at the Children's Hospital who asked me to come out to the beach and join their little (HA!) crowd while on their family vacation.  I get there and meet a couple of people....then a couple more came out....then a few more.....then when we were walking outside a few more joined us!  I still don't know how many there were in all!!

I had a good time with everyone.....and tried to make it as painless as possible.  Sorry it's taken me longer than normal to get a sneak peek up.....being busy (wahoo!) takes its toll!
